1. Sort Your Laundry
Sorting clothes is essential when using a washing machine. Separate clothes by color and fabric type for different loads. Fabrics with high elasticity, like microfiber or muslin, can handle higher spin speeds, leaving fewer wrinkles. Heavier fabrics like denim and khaki wrinkle easily, even with a gentle spin. Avoid washing soft stretch fabrics together with jeans to prevent tangling and creasing.
2. Use Plastic Bottles to Prevent Wrinkles
Adding two plastic bottles to the wash can help reduce clothes from tangling. The bottles change the water flow, increasing rotation and preventing clothes from twisting together. Loosen the caps slightly to allow water movement to be more effective.
3. Adjust Spin Speed Accordingly
Besides sorting, set an appropriate spin speed. Washing machines offer different spin speeds, so choose based on fabric type. For lightweight clothes or children’s clothes, select a gentle spin to prevent damage. For everyday wear, use the standard wash and spin setting. For thick or heavy items, a higher spin helps them dry faster. Note: Higher spin speeds increase the likelihood of tangling and wrinkling.
4. Use Laundry Bags
Place clothes in mesh laundry bags. This keeps them from tangling and helps protect delicate items from damage.
5. Add Vinegar to the Wash
Adding a small amount of vinegar in the wash improves stain removal, eliminates odors, and helps keep clothes smoother with fewer wrinkles.
6. Hang Clothes Immediately After Washing
Hang clothes right after washing to reduce wrinkles. Wet clothes are easier to smooth out by shaking and stretching them before drying. Give them a good shake, or smooth them out by hand to minimize creases.
